The Westbury Christian School chapter of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) will host the “Spring Into Good Health Fair,” a free event open to the entire community, in the WCS gymnasium (10420 Hillcroft, Houston, 77096) on Saturday, January 28, 2017, from 2-5 p.m.
The current list of participating vendors – who will be providing health information and screenings, hosting a blood drive, and offering child fingerprinting, as just a few examples – includes: MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, the Houston Police Department, Miracle-Ear, SAGE Dining Services, Dr. Montgomery’s Garden Kitchen, Morning Glory Ranch, and Who We Play For – Cypress ECG Project (funded by the Cody Stephens Foundation).
The WCS chapter of HOSA, an international student organization with a mission to promote career opportunities in the health care industry, is hosting the fair to encourage students, parents and neighbors to take whatever steps necessary to be strong, healthy and happy in the new year. In addition to the health fair, HOSA hosts a periodic breakfast meeting series that brings working health care professionals to the WCS campus to share experience and advice with students considering careers in related fields.
The WCS junior varsity girls and boys basketball teams will also be playing home games on January 28. Unlike the free health fair, there is a cost to attend basketball games – $5 for adults, $3 for students – and fair attendees are invited to purchase tickets and cheer on the Wildcats, if they are interested.
