For six years, I had the honor of serving alongside Mayor Sylvester Turner on Houston City Council, witnessing firsthand his unwavering commitment to our city and its people. Mayor Turner was a leader who led with passion, resilience, and an unshakable love for Houston.
His leadership extended beyond the city he loved. In a fitting testament to his lifelong service, Mayor Turner was recently sworn in as a U.S. Congressman, continuing his mission to advocate for the people. He dedicated his life to public service, ensuring that every Houstonian—no matter their background—had a voice and a place in our city’s future. His leadership through crises, his advocacy for those in need, and his tireless work to make Houston stronger will be remembered for generations to come.
But beyond his public service, Mayor Turner was a friend, a mentor, and a sponsor—always lifting others as he climbed. He was also a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Ashley, and recently celebrated the joy of becoming a grandfather—a role he embraced with the same love and dedication that he poured into everything he did.
I am grateful for the time we served together—the fun, the battles we fought for a better Houston, and the friendship we shared. His impact is undeniable, his legacy unshakable.
Rest in power, Mayor—Congressman Turner. Your impact will never be forgotten. 💔
