“For (her/their) commitment and dedication to making the Brays Oaks District a better place to invest, work and live.”

That was the fine print on the certificates of appreciation presented by Brays Oaks District board members to Houston Council Member Castex-Tatum — and to Jani Silva, who was in charge of the staff at Teotihuacān Mexican restaurant at 6579 W. Bellfort — at the eatery today (April 18).

The occasion was the District’s special public reception for Castex-Tatum, whose steadfast attention to, and advocacy for, economic development within the district is highly appreciated.

After her re-election to the council last year, she was named mayor pro tem by Mayor John Whitmire, empowering her to serve as mayor when he is unavailable.
