IKE DIKE / MEYER TRACT DETENTION BASIN / INATURALIST…AND MORE!
Myself and the BBA finds ourselves being asked to support the Ike Dike vision and possibly become active advocates going forward. I still feel, personally, that I need to further vet the pros and cons before swinging support one way or the other, and I surely don’t want to speak for the BBA without membership involvement. So…I’d like to throw things around a little bit at the meeting and hear from you, maybe some of you are much more up to speed on the topic than I am. Depending upon the interaction from the attendees and other members we’ll look into, or not, the option of inviting informed speakers of varying thought on the issue to participate in future meetings. Oh, by the way if your’e receiving this email you ARE a member! OK, we’re a little informal about things, but we really pack a punch when it comes to getting things done!
Meyer Tract Detention Basin Cleanup was a super success story and we’ll talk about continuing the story and rundown a statistical overview of all things related to the event. WE need a new name for the basin!
We’ll look at the INaturalist Challenge, which the BBA has only recently became exposed to, to find out how our area did and is doing…lots of good stats there too! Maybe will hear from Lucy Randel and other active Citizen Scientists about their findings.
And…of course what is a BBA meeting without an update summary from the Harris County Flood Control District’s Federal Project Manager Gary Zika regarding Project Brays activity. Gary and Project Brays Team Members Melissa Meyer and Rusty Lannin, will discuss the huge ongoing undertaking of the S. Rice/Chimney Rock bridge and intersection work, along with something like seven other bridges that are part of the final stretch for Project Brays….is that light at the end of the tunnel that I see or is it lower water levels in the bayou! (alright the previous few sentences was a cut and paste jobby). I believe we’ll get a glance at how the seven traffic bridges that are currently under some stage redevelopment will look once completed.
