As winter weather approaches, we want to ensure you and your loved ones stay safe and informed. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Southeast Texas from 6 p.m. Monday, January 20 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, forecasting wintry precipitation and long periods of sub-freezing temperatures.
Travel Advisory: Avoid Roads
For your safety, please avoid all travel from Monday evening through Wednesday morning. Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures create dangerous road conditions. If travel is necessary, carry food, water, and blankets with you, and travel with a companion if possible.
Warming Centers Open Monday-Wednesday
Precinct 4 is opening the following warming centers:
- Bayland Community Center (6400 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074)
- Burnett Bayland Community Center (6000 Chimney Rock Rd, Houston, TX 77081)
- Steve Radack Community Center (18650 Clay Rd, Houston, TX 77084)
Hours: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. | Pet-Friendly (crated animals only).
24/7 Shelter Available through Thursday, Jan. 23
- City of Houston warming centers – Locations can be viewed here
- They will remain open 24/7 until midday Thursday, January 23 (could be extended depending on weather)
Closures and Updates
- All other Precinct 4 community centers will be closed Monday – Wednesday
- Parks: Open, but water service will be shut off through Wednesday, Jan. 22 to protect plumbing systems and all programming and activities are canceled on those days.
