Solid Waste Management Department Winter Freeze Collection and Facility Schedule

Due to winter freeze weather conditions, the City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department adjusted residential collection services for the remainder of the week.

Garbage collection and Heavy Trash services will run two days behind schedule through Sunday. Curbside recycling, tree waste, and yard waste collection services will be suspended for the remainder of the week through January 26, 2025.

Tuesday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced. Reminder all curbside recycling, tree and yard waste collections will remain suspended.

Saturday, January 25, 2025

Thursday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced. Reminder all curbside recycling, tree and yard waste collections will remain suspended.

Exciting Changes Coming to
Vinson Neighborhood Library!

The Houston Public Library (HPL) is gearing up to bring a cutting-edge TECHLink center to the Vinson Neighborhood Library. This state-of-the-art facility will replace the current HPL Express area, which will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, to prepare for construction.

While some sections of the library will be temporarily inaccessible during construction, most operations will remain open at Vinson, one of South Houston’s busiest libraries, conveniently located in the Hiram Clarke Multi-Service Center at 3810 W. Fuqua St.

TECHLink Vinson is set to open in fall 2025, spanning 3,480 square feet and featuring innovative resources to inspire creativity and innovation for all ages.

Highlights of the New TECHLink:

  • Video Recording Studio: The largest TECHLink video studio yet, with chroma walls and professional-grade equipment.
  • Podcast & Vlog Studio: A high-tech space designed for podcasting and vlogging.
