WE’RE MAKING A PARK!

A group of individuals will be taking the first steps towards transforming 20 acres of greenspace and lake area into a destination jewel of a park!  Join us for this inaugural event so you can say “I was there when it all kicked off!”  The keys to unlocking the door to this hidden locale are being provided by the Houston Parks Board via the soon to be installed new trail segments along the southside of Brays Bayou extending for miles inside and outside Loop 610.

I look at this as a home that hasn’t been lived in or maintained for decades and in order to maximize the potential…it all starts with a little cleanup!  Events like this will make the place more attractive to public and private entities that can provide resources for amenities and future maintenance.  But even more importantly demonstrate that the community is involved in seeing the park becoming a top of the line quality of life improvement, which numerous studies have shown lead to increases in area desirability and property values.

  • What: Trash Cleanup
  • When: Saturday morning April 24th from 9:00-11:00ish
  • Where:  Meyer Tract Detention Basin, just inside 610 and south of Brays Bayou
  • Parking: Metro Park and Ride lot under 610 just south of Brays Bayou, use the crosswalk at N. Braeswood to access the site
Feel free to come as you are at anytime and for any duration, totally casual!  Swing by the “Meet Up” table to pick up trash bags, grabbers and gloves…your also welcome to bring your own.  Participating in the cleanup is not required.  Heck, if you just want to drop by and see what the place is all about then that’s cool too!  If you would like to help with some of the onsite organizing or have any questions, then please reach out to us at [email protected]  FYI…the grass is high in some places and you WILL be outdoors, so prepare accordingly.
