TEA Community Meeting at Westbury High School on Tuesday, Nov 12

Join us and bring your questions and concerns about plans recently announced by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to appoint a board to oversee the Houston Independent School District.

Tuesday, November 12, from 6:00–7:30 PM
Westbury High School, 11911 Chimney Rock. In the WHS lecture hall.

The TEA is holding meetings to discuss the process for replacing Houston ISD’s elected school board with a state-appointed governance team. As there were none scheduled in HISD Trustee District IX or Houston City Council District K, the Westbury Super Neighborhood has asked for a meeting in our area, not only for Westbury, but also for other area schools.

What does this action by the TEA mean for our neighborhood schools? What are the implications for HISD short term and long term? Who will be on this management team? About half of your property tax goes to HISD, so whether or not you have children in the district, this is a concern.
