LINC stands for Language Institute for New Comers. The LINC program is designed to assists students in accelerating their acquisition of the English language while learning academic content knowledge and skills and preparing them to participate successfully on their home campus in the English as a Second Language program.

Alief is home to immigrants with very diverse backgrounds. Vietnamese, Burmese, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Swahili are a few of the most commonly spoken languages in the district.

We are seeking mentors who speak any of the above languages. The mentors are required to complete an ISD background check and would need to commit 40 minutes a week where they would be working with a small group of high school students mentoring them on language acquisition skills and social skills as they learn to settle in the USA.

ASPIRE Tutorials is an independent after school program run by SEWA International in Southwest Houston. We are currently looking for volunteers to help in shaping the life of refugee and immigrant elementary school kids with curriculum based homework and fun based extra curricular activities.
